Customised Jackets

Painted Denim Jacket

For quite a while now i have wanted to customise my own clothing using paint, but have never had the time.

Now that i finally have some time to myself i have decided to produce my own personalised denim jacket, using any paint i can find in the house, before it is thrown away.

I started by adding white paint to the back of the jacket as a base colour. This was paint specifically made for wood but we won’t get dumbed down with the details :).

After the paint had dried i decided to paint the phases of the moon, to match the dark tone of denim.

Using some old black acrylic paint, i found in the cellar, i added black to the background and circles adding dimension to the painting. I decided to photograph each stage to show the progress of my jacket. So please read on to see the final result :).

Stage 2: Add black paint to represent the shadow and add white to enhance the dried colour.

Stage 3: Add black paint to the background to represent the night sky.

I am really pleased with the way my painted jacket turned out. However if i was to try this painting again i would try to make it more symmetrical and centred.

I would really love to attempt other paintings, especially on lighter denim jackets and have been inspired by designs that can be seen on Pinterest.

In the upcoming weeks i hope to have made a second attempt at customising clothing and hope to get better in time.
